Riven Tides Lore: The Twice-Abandoned Coast in ARC Raiders

Riven Tides is a coastal map on the western coast of the Rust Belt, added in ARC Raiders patch 1.26.0 on April 28, 2026. Embark describes a stretch of deserted shoreline that has been abandoned twice: once during the Exodus, and again by First Wave survivors who failed to hold the exposed settlement against ARC. The Codex calls it a once luxurious, Exodus-era harbor resort, and says a handful of veteran Raiders know its oceanfront as the first place they ever saw ARC come down from the skies.

The map runs from a fading resort around the Panorama Azzurro hotel to a towering dockyard and the old Exodus port. Its in-game description calls it a coastal paradise that holds memories of grand ambitions and reluctant retreat, and ends on the line that sums it up best: for all the upheaval, "the ocean looks much the same."

Key takeaways

  • Riven Tides was abandoned twice, first during the Exodus and again early in the First Wave, when its open coast offered no shelter from ARC.
  • Veteran Raiders remember its oceanfront as the first place they saw ARC fall from the sky.
  • The same exposed coastline now matters to Speranza as a lookout for new threats moving into the Rust Belt.
  • The ARC Turbine and the Beachcombing condition both arrived with the map in patch 1.26.0.

Why Riven Tides was abandoned twice

The first abandonment came with the Exodus. The Codex dates the harbor resort to that era, and Embark's reveal invites Raiders to cross the Exodus port and see the lost luxury of the Panorama Azzurro hotel. The game does not say exactly when the guests and port workers left, only that the coast was emptied once before ARC arrived.

The second came later. Survivors settled this coast again, and when the First Wave began, the Codex says, the area was abandoned in its early days because it lacked shelter. Embark's reveal puts it more bluntly: the survivors failed to hold the exposed settlement against ARC. The timeline puts both events in order.

That Codex line about veterans adds a third layer. If a handful of living Raiders first saw ARC come down here, the beach is part of living memory in Speranza, and the people who watched it happen are still around. Our ARC page explains what they were up against.

A resort and a port on one bay

The map's own labels show two very different places sharing one shoreline. On the resort side sit the Hotel Panorama Azzurro with its Poolside, a Beach Bar and a Tennis Court, all facing Azzurro Beach. On the working side are the Wharf, the Port Authority Building, the Quay, the Wavebreaker and the Stacking Yard with its walls of shipping containers.

Inland, the port's machinery of control is still standing: a Customs House, a Weighing Checkpoint, a Transfer Depot, a Railyard and a Special Handling Tunnel. Marano Road leads away from it all, and Marano is the old name the Codex gives Buried City. Read together, the labels describe a holiday resort that shared its bay with a tightly managed cargo port.

Before anyone deployed, scout reports set the mood. Embark's reveal says fragments of observation logs, faded photographs and footage of the coast had made their way back to Speranza first.

The hotel and the Rust Belt Mutiny

The Panorama Azzurro also has a political past. The Codex entry on the Rust Belt Mutiny says workers began to doubt the promise of the Exodus after learning that Project Heartwood had been all but designed to fail. The mutineers slowly connected with sympathizers across the Rust Belt, and the entry names two places on this coast: Hotel Panorama Azzurro and the docks of the Riven Tides area.

That puts the resort on the same thread as the MANTIKOR logs under the Blue Gate and the Exodus shipping schedules recovered at Stella Montis. Our Exodus page follows the mutiny from the Spaceport to the shore.

What Speranza wants from the coast now

The Codex closes its entry with a reversal. The coastline was abandoned for lacking shelter, and that same openness now makes it important for spotting new threats moving into the Rust Belt. Apollo's quest Shoring Up Defenses says it in his own words: the wide-open coast used to mean danger, now it is the only place Speranza can see new threats coming, so Raiders have to make their own cover and reinforce whatever defenses they find.

His quest Battening Down admits Speranza hoped the seawalls at Riven Tides would offer some protection from the elements, and that the hurricanes were not kind to this place either. Lance's quest Celeste's Childhood Drawings starts with him worried that Celeste seems down, and asking whether you know the hotel around Riven Tides.

The Avian Alarm Raider Project that launched with the map tied the city's safety to the shoreline in a gentler way. Raiders deployed cages at buoys along the coast to catch birds for a makeshift alarm system meant to sense tremors and atmospheric changes, and finishing all five stages earned the Dockmaster's Detector. The quest tracker covers the map's quests.

The ARC Turbine

The ARC Turbine arrived with Riven Tides. Embark introduced it as a floating machine that drifts across the Rust Belt, almost beautiful against a sunset and calm and quiet until someone gets close. Nobody knows quite what it is doing, the reveal said, and anyone who interferes gets a fight unlike any other.

The Codex calls it the volatile bringer of storms. When it lands to start its sifting turbine, its armor plating opens partway and exposes the machinery inside. Based on those internals, some suspect it collects airborne particulates such as volcanic minerals, spore matter and trace elements in the dust that covers much of the surface. Others claim it is after oxygen itself. The entry admits nobody knows for certain.

The same entry notes that a surprising number of Raiders have tried to climb and ride one. It ends the way you would expect, with burns, a long fall and a story nobody at the cantinas believes.

Beachcombing: what the sand gives back

Beachcombing is a minor map condition exclusive to Riven Tides. Embark's reveal tells Raiders to find a Dockmaster's Detector during a session and sweep it over the sand for buried loot, with the richest hunting grounds out in the open. The condition's own briefing says scouts found trinkets and small finds buried in the sands around Riven Tides, along with a few less welcome things.

We like the irony in that. The open beach is the same exposure that drove the First Wave settlers out, and the condition pays you to stand right where people once could not survive.

The Last Resort event that ran alongside the map's release leaned on the harbor theme too, hiding miniature ship models such as the Sirena Dorata and Leviathan's Crown across the maps. Frozen Trail 2.0 later raised Riven Tides' overall loot value by about 15 percent. Our Riven Tides update breakdown covers the patch itself, and the map guide lists the current conditions.

Theories: Celeste and the hotel (theory)

This section is interpretation, not confirmed lore.

Lance's quest title, Celeste's Childhood Drawings, paired with his question about the hotel around Riven Tides, suggests something from Celeste's childhood sits at the Panorama Azzurro. The Codex says Celeste was nine when the First Wave hit, and Riven Tides was abandoned early in that same wave. One reading is that she lived on or visited this coast as a child before the settlement fell. Nothing says so outright, and the drawings could have reached the hotel some other way. The Celeste page has her confirmed history.

The Turbine's purpose is the other open question. The game offers particulates and oxygen as competing guesses from inside Speranza, and players have added plenty of their own. The ARC origin page covers how those ideas fit the bigger mystery.

Frequently asked questions

Why was Riven Tides abandoned twice?

Embark says the coast was abandoned once during the Exodus and again by First Wave survivors who could not hold the exposed settlement against ARC. The Codex adds that the second retreat came early in the First Wave because the area lacked shelter.

What is the hotel in Riven Tides called?

Hotel Panorama Azzurro. Embark's reveal describes the lost luxury of the Panorama Azzurro hotel, and the Codex entry on the Rust Belt Mutiny names it as one of the places where mutineers found sympathizers before the Exodus.

What does the ARC Turbine do in ARC Raiders?

Nobody in Speranza knows for sure. The Codex says it lands to run a sifting turbine and may collect airborne particulates such as volcanic minerals and spore matter, while others think it is after oxygen. The ARC Turbine page covers how it fights.

When was Riven Tides added to ARC Raiders?

Riven Tides arrived in patch 1.26.0 on April 28, 2026, one day after Embark's reveal. The same update added the ARC Turbine, the Beachcombing condition and the Avian Alarm Raider Project.
